On the old silk road

An old fort converted to a hotel was our accommodation in Surajgarh.

The Shekawati region has been referred to as the "open gallery" of Rajasthan, having the largest concentration of frescoes in the world.  Wealthy merchants on the old silk (and opium) road built elaborately painted homes called havelis with multiple courtyards and rooms for business and home life.
A restored haveli, now a museum

He called out good morning to us from the top of our fort hotel walls
