New beaches, island, birthday, snorkeling

Below is a little beach Jas and I found around the corner and up the hill from the school on "Millionaire's Mile".

These photos below are from a trip to a small island nearby, Koh Yao Noi. We (me, Jas, Armelle & Tavis) are taking a swim after kayaking to another little nearby island which was uninhabitated for much of the morning.
Also below is a shot of Chum, who took us snorkeling from his long tail boat.

And the view of Phrang Nga Bay from the Koh Yao Noi bungalow.

The gathering below is for Armelle's birthday. We were three Americans, 1 Brit, two French and two Thai.

Friends recently told us about a little beach down the road across from where I live and that there is good snorkeling there. The photo below is me at that beach, where we saw just a few other people. The snorkeling was amazing! We must have floated for an hour looking at canyons of colorful coral, iridescent fish of many kinds, a bright blue and a huge purple and black starfish, a striped moray eel, spotted sea cucumbers, puffer fish, and more. There it was, 4 minutes from my door! Who knew?

It is magical. I hope to find an underwater camera and get some photos of the beauty below the surface of the perfect clear water.
