Someone asked me, before I left, why I was going to pack up my life and go to Thailand for 11 months, and I said that I honestly didn't know. It was the culmination of a variety of factors, situations, and the memory of feeling so relaxed and happy while visiting Thailand last summer.
It was difficult to leave - physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. I was only able to pull it off with the help of many special people, most notably my family and David.
But I arrived in Bangkok to great friends and a warm welcome. They took me out to an Irish bar to see a Thai Beatles band that first night of my arrival (they were excellent).
The next day we went to see temples (my choice) and had the greatest coconut ice cream (with lotus seeds on it). A highly rated 80-year old recipe -- in a place you'd never find if you didn't know it was there.
Wat Po, including the massive reclining Buddha. The image right above documents accupuncture/pressure.
